During the Lok Sabha elections, Sujay Vikhe Patil, former BJP MP, who was fighting a tough battle against NCP-SP's Nilesh Lanke, had taunted the latter by saying that Lanke does not know English and he will struggle to give a speech in that language in Parliament as he can speak only Marathi. After Lanke has defeated Vikhe Patil, NCP-SP leaders such as Jitendra Awhad are taunting Vikhe Patil in English, asking, "How is Vikhe?"

"The Governor had given permission to meet 200 victims in writing," Adhikari said. Adhikari and 200 BJP workers waited outside Raj Bhawan for more than two hours, along with other BJP leaders but the entire area was barricaded in multiple layers.

TDP holds the majority in the 175-member Assembly with 135 MLAs, while its allies, the Janasena Party, have 21, and the BJP has eight. The opposition YSR Congress Party was confined to a meagre 11. Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang's wife Krishna Kumari Rai on Thursday quit as an MLA, a day after taking oath, according to an official notification. She had won from the Namchi-Singhithang seat in the recently concluded assembly polls, defeating Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) candidate Bimal Rai.
