📢 The celebrations continued today at Perisher with 167 snow guns firing overnight and the V8 Chairlift starting up for the first time this season.   “We’ve had a few amazing days here at Perisher with 26cm of natural snowfall and some super cold temperatures, which has been really good for snowmaking,” said Olivia Mason, Perisher Marketing Coordinator, “and because of that we’ve been able to open Front Valley, the V8 Chairlift and the carpet: everyone’s having a great time!”   In other good news, the icy blast has frozen our Epic Australia Pass and Epic Australia Adaptive Pass for one more week. This means there's one final chance to buy Australia’s best value season Pass before it goes off-sale on 19 June: https://lnkd.in/gTNp6N7P.   We will share more lift and terrain openings with you soon! ⛷ 🏂

📢 Perisher Valley’s Skitube Terminal was like Grand Central Station as more than 200 registered bidders crammed into the space on opening day of the 2024 snow season to bid on 40 original Mt Perisher Double chairs, raising $195,000 for local community, environment and youth organisations and causes. “It was a wonderful start to the season and the room was filled with excitement as the first chair went for $7,000, sold to a family with tight connection to the chairlift’s construction back in 1961,” said Nathan Butterworth, Perisher Vice President and General Manager. “It was heartening to hear so many stories of life at Perisher back then and feel part of something very special as we steer Perisher to new heights with the new Mt Perisher 6 high-speed, 6-person chairlift to open in 2025, reclaiming our title of having the highest lifted point in Australia.” Around 30 of the original chairs are currently being sold in a silent auction: Enter the auction here: https://lnkd.in/gRkbvvPT, with proceeds now exceeding $250,000. 💰 To register your organisation or cause for a grant, please visit: Apply for Auction Grant through www.perisher.com.au - under the 'News' tab. Perisher wakes up in white 😍 👏 Perisher’s snowmaking team has been hard at work overnight firing up its snowmaking systems to give Mother Nature a helping hand. Below freezing temperatures of -4C overnight brought with it some fresh snowfall, 5cm on the ground this morning with more expected in the day, as well as the perfect opportunity to make some snow. “It’s a great feeling having both our snow guns and Mother Nature working together to give us the help we need to cool the ground and prepare for our opening day on 8 June,” said Maddi Ventura, Perisher’s Marketing Manager. “We can’t wait to welcome our guests back for a fantastic season ahead.” Find out more about the season ahead: www.perisher.com.au

Hire Manager Allan Rowson leaves Perisher today after an incredible 43 years working for the resort in the equipment hire department – first as a seasonal then permanent member of the team. He became the manager two decades ago and received the first-ever Vail Resorts Australia Epic Service Award, earning him a trip to America and Employee of the Year recognition. According to Perisher’s Operations Director Michael Fearnside, who has been there with him on his journey, he’s “someone who has been really right for Perisher. He’s always had the company at his heart, and the guest at the forefront.” Michael says Al was the champion of the guest experience before people were talking about it and he has always gone out of his way to genuinely make a difference. In doing this, he’s built-up lasting bonds and friendships not only with staff but with guests as well. "Combined with his two brothers, David and Mick, the three have made massive contributions," says Michael, "to both Perisher and to the local community.” “I would not change my journey as the friendships I have with the Perisher family is of the highest level,” says Al Rowson. “Thank you for an amazing 43 years.” 👏 We wish you well, Al and thank you for your immense contributions.

📢 Perisher is excited to offer guests the opportunity to own a slice of ski history at a special Opening Weekend farewell auction for the historic Mt Perisher Double Chairlift, which has been decommissioned to make way for the high-speed, 6-seater Mt Perisher 6 Chairlift, currently under construction.      Around 70 of the original chairs will be auctioned across the two days that will include:     ⏰ Saturday 8 June: Live auction at a Perisher Valley venue (time and location to be announced). To attend, you must REGISTER YOUR INTEREST: 👉 https://lnkd.in/gcycM5Gi  👈 ⏰ Sunday 9 June (open for one week or until sold) Online auction via: https://lnkd.in/gRkbvvPT The Mt. Perisher Double Chair was Perisher’s first ever chairlift, a two-seater, fixed-grip chairlift that first opened to skiers in 1961. Prior to its construction, the areas that now form Perisher Ski Resort were serviced by a handful of T-Bars and rope tows.   According to Perisher Historical Society, the construction of the Mt. P Double was ‘Spurred on by the appetite for longer runs and the interest to open up new skiing areas on the Perisher Range’. The Chair’s construction represented a major step forward in Australian skiing.  The new Mt Perisher 6 chairlift will provide another major step forward, improving resort capacity and assisting to redistribute skiers across Perisher’s network of 47 lifts across four resort base areas to reduce general lift wait times and improve flow and circulation.  The new chairlift will have the highest lifted point in Australia at 2,042m.    For more information, please visit our Mt Perisher 6: Project Updates page at www.perisher.com.au or learn more about the auction, as well as the history of the Mt. Perisher Double Chair, by visiting the Mt. Perisher Double Chair Auction page: https://lnkd.in/gPSKJd8q
