115 new cases, 1 dies due to dengue

Six people have died from dengue in Karnataka this year. According to the health bulletin released on Saturday, 175 new dengue cases were reported statewide, with 115 in Bengaluru alone (increasing this year’s total to 1,908). Of the new cases, 45 required hospitalisation; 121 patients are 18 and older, 53 are between the ages of 1 and 18, and one is a child under one year.

An 11-year-old boy named Gagan from Anjanapura succumbed to dengue fever on Friday after being treated for several days at a private hospital. BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath confirmed the death and mentioned that a death audit report has been sent to the health department. Additionally, a 74-year-old man from Gandhinagar in Shivamogga passed away from the Zika virus on Friday night. He had been experiencing severe fever symptoms since June 19 and was diagnosed with the virus on June 21.


Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has instructed deputy commissioners to remain vigilant about the spread of both viruses.
