The Railway Department has approved the construction of a railway underbridge (RUB) near Challaghatta, connecting Magadi Road and Mysore Road, to enhance connectivity between Mysuru and Magadi Road. Initially requested by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in 2019, the project faced delays due to factors such as COVID-19 and land acquisition issues. Estimated at ₹39 crore, the RUB will serve as a vital link between the two roads, easing traffic congestion. With approval secured, the BDA is ready to begin construction on the underbridge.

A private company has secured the tender for constructing a railway underbridge (RUB). This project adds to their ongoing work on the Major Arterial Road (MAR). The RUB will link up with the Metro line under construction by BMRCL and will span four lanes. Although the MAR project has faced delays due to legal issues concerning land acquisition, BDA officials assure that it will be completed shortly.

They report that legal matters are nearing resolution, and once settled, the remaining road work will progress swiftly. The RUB planned between Kenchenahalli and Hejjala railway stations, serves as a crucial link between the Metro line and the two roads.

The MAR project, spanning 10.75 km and costing approximately ₹450 crore, is currently underway. This expansive road will have a width of 100 meters and 8 lanes, connecting all 9 blocks of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout and providing access to Magadi Road and Mysore Road. Key features include three underpasses, 35 small bridges, and a railway underbridge. Once finished, the MAR project will significantly ease traffic congestion by linking these two roads.

In 2019, BDA requested the Railway Department’s permission to build a railway underbridge (RUB) linking MAR in Kempegowda Layout to Mysore Road. Delays ensued for various reasons, but Railway Department approval has now resolved the issue. The RUB will connect MAR and Mysore Road, bypassing the railway track obstacle.

Reacting to this, Rajesh Kumar, a real estate developer said, “The approval of the railway under bridge is a game-changer for connectivity between Mysuru and Magadi Road. This infrastructure development will enhance commuter convenience and real estate prospects in surrounding areas. Improved connectivity always translates into increased property values. With easier access between major roads, properties in the vicinity are likely to see heightened demand.

This project will unlock new opportunities for residential and commercial developments, attracting more investors and homebuyers alike. Enhanced connectivity encourages businesses to set up operations nearby, leading to job creation and further demand for residential properties.

The approval and upcoming construction of the railway under bridge are poised to significantly bolster connectivity and spur real estate development along the Mysuru and Magadi Road corridors. Developers and stakeholders anticipate positive impacts on property values, increased business activity, and overall economic vitality in the region.”
