Once again, the BC Lions put on an amazing Draft-a-Lion event where we were able to partner with our draft selection, #18 Justin McInnis! Justin is not only a great wide receiver, but in the off-season, he acts as a role model, giving presentations to children in our community. Tree Island Steel is a proud supporter of the BC Lions Football Team. We look forward to our partnership with Justin and the BC Lions. Go Lions go!

Did you know? At one time, Tree Island really was a small island in the middle of the Fraser River. The portion of the Fraser River that separated the island from Richmond was filled in, allowing easy access and plenty of room to grow. The sole tree that became the company’s namesake was removed to make way for expansion. The tree may be gone, but while it was there, it was a symbol of growth and progress, and ultimately sowed the seeds of improvement, achievement and success. And just like the tree, our team has helped us develop strong and deep roots, which not only allow us to weather difficult times, but also give us a strong foundation for growth.

As long-time supporters of the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Tree Island Steel was proud to attend the annual Heart & Stroke Gala on Saturday, May 4. The evening provides the opportunity to come together to fund life-saving stroke research, raise awareness about the FAST signs of stroke, and support work in stroke recovery.

Another Canadian company that was founded in 1964!
60 years ago in St. Jacobs, ON, Walter J. Hachborn and Henry Sittler laid the foundation for what would become Canada’s largest Dealer-owned and operated home improvement retailer. Since then, Home has expanded to more than 1,000 stores operating under the Home Hardware, Home Building Centre, Home Hardware Building Centre and Home Furniture banners. "This milestone is a testament to over six decades of dedication and hard work by our Dealers and Team Members across the country," reflects Kevin Macnab. “While celebrating 60 years of rich history, we’re also focused on continued growth to ensure we keep delivering the exceptional customer service we’re known for in communities across Canada.” #ItsGoodToBeHome #WorkAnniversary

On Monday, April 29th the Tree Island Steel team observed the occasion in the following manner: · Laying wreaths at our Richmond location and Jack Poole Plaza in downtown Vancouver (photos one and two respectively). · Encouraging employees to wear Day of Mourning decals. · Raising awareness of the event on our intranet and social media. · Pausing for a moment of silence.

Congratulations to the ladies of Tree Island Steel, led by Nancy Davies, COO, for recognition in the Report on Business 2024 Women Lead Here list! Their annual benchmark of gender diversity in corporate Canada celebrates 97 companies with more than 30% women in executive roles. In creating the 2024 Women Lead Here list, Report on Business magazine assessed approximately 500 publicly traded companies in Canada with annual revenues greater than $50 million. A weighted methodology was applied, considering the company’s profitability, revenue growth and three-year return. The diversity of the executive team was also considered, as was the year-over-year comparison of female representation in the executive ranks. Congratulations to the female leaders of Tree Island Steel on your achievement!
