Empowering young people so they can transform their world for the better.
Info
Founded in 1844, the World Alliance of YMCAs is the oldest and largest movement for young people in the world. The World YMCA, based in Geneva, Switzerland, supports approximately 120 national YMCAs and four regional Alliances across the globe. The YMCA empowers young people, aiming to provide them with safe spaces and opportunities to take an active role in transforming their communities. Collectively, the YMCA Movement reaches about 65 million people every year. In July 2022, YMCAs around the world adopted YMCA Vision 2030, our first-ever collective Mission and Vision. Together, we are working to positively impact Community Wellbeing, Meaningful Work, a Sustainable Planet and a Just World for young people and our communities.

Thank you for sharing your work and impact with Soheila Y. Hayek and helping us to learn more about how you are meeting the needs of the community and young people. 🙌
Thank you to World YMCA President, Soheila Y. Hayek for visiting YMCA Wimbledon Supported housing project at the weekend as part of her visit to the UK. Following the pleasure of being acquainted at YMCA National Conference in Nottingham. We're thrilled on behalf of YMCA Wimbledon for the extended opportunity to showcase the fantastic work happening locally as part of the wider provision at YMCA St Paul's Group and the community impact of its vital services for young people. The supported housing project is creating a real difference for young people who are vulnerable in the community, offering 111 rooms, which consists of 60 targeted supported places, in collaboration with Merton London Borough Council. 🙌 #YMCA #CommunitySupport #SupportedHousing #YouthServices

Thank you SecondMuse Capital for this collaboration, which is so critical in addressing the employment and Meaningful Work challenges facing young people today. 🤝 Kathleen Elsig Caroline Chernov Kayla Williams
We are excited to announce our collaboration with World YMCA and Generation Unlimited through the Learning to Earning (L2E) Future Economy Lab. Globally, a staggering one in five young people are not engaged in employment, education, or training. At the same time, 87% of employers face now or expect to face a skills gap. To address these urgent challenges we will explore the role of innovative finance in improving employment outcomes for young people. Our goal is to guide more underserved young people beyond skills training and into meaningful employment by increasing the flow of capital to initiatives achieving enduring benefits for youth. Thank you, Joyce, for spending time with us and sharing about the work of the YMCA of Singapore. 🙌
Leader of Global Youth Movement. Passionate about building the resilience of young people and communities
It is always a great pleasure to welcome our YMCA colleagues from around the world to our headquarters in Geneva. Today we welcomed Joyce Lu from YMCA of Singapore, who shared details about their programmes and initiatives. One that I found to be particularly impressive is YMCA Youth for Causes. It promotes social entrepreneurship and community leadership development among young people and provides funding, training and mentorship. It’s a joy to see how young people are leading change in their communities.

A wonderful part of the YMCA is the exchange between countries and cultures. ✨ Interns Gino and Katie from the YMCA of Hong Kong have been able to participate in various activities at Fondazione YMCA Italia, including volunteering at the Good Samaritan Inn and even making videos of their experience (check out their journey here: https://bit.ly/3RZUjDd). 🎥 YMCA Europe

Leader of Global Youth Movement. Passionate about building the resilience of young people and communities
🔺 Two years ago, over 100 National YMCA Movements adopted our first global strategy, YMCA Vision 2030. I’m inspired by how we’re collectively advancing the four Pillars of Impact and Movement Support Functions, while adapting Vision 2030 to local needs. What struck me most during our World YMCA Executive Committee meeting on 6-7 July was the remarkable depth and diversity in unity as we implement YMCA Vision 2030 across different regional contexts. Learn more about our collective reach and impact ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dg6Z59N6 During the meeting we discussed our varied pathways and goals, but there’s no doubt we walk this journey together—some fast, some slow, some straight, some fluid, but always together. Looking forward to our next meeting in Mombasa on the eve of the Vision 2030 Accelerator Summit in October, where we will celebrate our global progress and continue our journey together. Soheila Y.
