Set Realistic Goals

When it comes to a fitness regime during the festive season, everyone deserves rest and a break from daily mundane lives. Setting realistic goals that give you enough time to rest and enjoy the holidays is the best way to stay fit. For example, instead of pledging to hit the gym every day, maintaining a low but sustainable level of exercise will not only help burn those extra calories but also keep your body in the habit of exercising.

Work Out With A Friend

Exercising with a friend is a great way to achieve your fitness goals because it will not only motivate you to be regular but also help you socialise. Working out with a friend decreases the possibility of getting bored and also provides more options such as a game of tennis, badminton, etc.

Drink More Water

As the festive season is all about drinking and eating a little more than usual, it is very important to keep your body hydrated. Drinking water not only curbs the appetite but it also helps boost metabolism which further helps digest festive treats faster and efficiently. Therefore, it is necessary to consume at least three litres of water a day.

Sweet Sins

We all fear sugar, but the festive season is incomplete without sugary treats. Instead of holding yourself back from relishing desserts, you should wisely pick your sweets. For example, choosing homemade sweets will always be a healthier option in comparison to those brought from outside.

Eat Guilt-Free

During the festive season it is difficult to keep an eye on the calories consumed with the sugar and carbohydrate portion going up. If you want to maintain the balance and gorge on your favourite dishes without any guilt, then balance it with one salad a day.

Snack Wisely

It is practically impossible to avoid snacking during festivals. Therefore, having snacks that are rich in protein will help slow down the sugar spike in the body. Instead of having deep fried snacks, you can opt for fox nuts, dry fruits, salads, sprouts, fruits, etc.

Dance It Out

Paris-based International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) founder Julies Granger says that dance is the ultimate workout. Dancing not only involves engaging all muscles and limbs but it also gets your heart pumping. Besides keeping you in shape, it makes you happy as it releases dopamine (also known as happy hormone).

Don’t Step Out Hungry

One of the best ways to limit eating when going out for a dinner is to have something light before stepping out. Eating something healthy and nutritious before a big meal not only prevents bloating issues but also stops you from indulging in calorie-rich food. This is why having egg toast, yogurt with muesli or nuts, sandwich etc is also a good idea.

Post-Party Blues

If you do not want to feel bloated and uneasy the morning after, then don’t forget your post-celebration rituals. Having green tea or a glass of warm water before going to bed will help speed up the digestion process.
