Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.

Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach are some other symptoms.

Another telltale sign of heart attack is shortness of breath, which can occur with or without chest discomfort.

An overwhelming feeling of anxiety (similar to a panic attack), and coughing and wheezing is another symptom.
