Last month, we were working with a client who is in the manufacturing MSME sector and was struggling to navigate the intricacies of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). Challenge: They were overwhelmed by the GeM Registration process and unsure of how to leverage the available government schemes to their advantage. Worse, they felt lost when it came to effectively participating in public tenders.   • The Rajasthan state Government is planning to launch an 'Integrated cluster development scheme' to improve handicrafts, handlooms, and MSME sectors. • The scheme aims to enhance productivity and quality in these industries. • It also aims to build the capacity of MSMEs, making them market-oriented and competitive. • The draft policy outlines four components of the scheme. The main component aims to help artisans, craftsmen, and weavers by providing training, setting up a raw material bank, and promoting their products through online platforms. • MSME clusters are set to receive aid for CFCs with state support, and  infrastructure development is planned for existing and greenfield clusters in non-RIICO areas. • The scheme will be implemented through special purpose vehicles (SPVs) with at least ten artisans, craftsmen, or weavers. This forthcoming 'Integrated cluster development scheme' proposed by the Rajasthan Government holds significant promise for empowering MSMEs. Through targeted interventions,  the initiative aims to uplift these vital industries,fostering innovation and stimulating socio-economic development in the region.
