Empowering painters by upskilling them and helping them create better livelihood opportunities. Berger Paints India has partnered with Smile Foundation for the iTrain on Wheels programme - an upskilling initiative aimed at honing the skills of aspiring and existing painters. This programme is helping develop a vast pool of skilled workforce, expand their employability opportunities, and help them build entrepreneurial skills. Since 2021, the iTrain on Wheels Programme has trained thousands of painters through mobile iTrain vans in 24 states over 100+ remote sites nationwide. As part of the Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.’s 69th Foundation Day, a group of dedicated Yamaha bikers embarked on an inspiring journey to connect with Smile Foundation’s children in 12 locations across India including Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai. The engagement sessions were filled with enriching knowledge sharing and captivating discussions on basic road safety measures, emphasizing the importance of wearing helmets, understanding traffic signals and following pedestrian rules. The Yamaha bikers also provided essential teaching and learning materials to the children, lighting up their path to a brighter future. Colloquium to Deliberate on the Role of CBOs in the CSR Space At Smile Foundation, we believe that Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) are not the last mile but the first mile in delivering impactful change. Smile Foundation’s recent CSR Colloquium, attended by senior corporate leaders, provided a collaborative platform for meaningful discussions, knowledge sharing, and exploring potential partnerships. Grassroots organizations, with their deep community understanding, have long driven local initiatives. As larger Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), we bridge corporates and communities through our expertise and government connections. Empowering grassroots organizations is central to Smile Foundation’s mission. Our Empowering Grassroots (EG) initiative builds CBO capacities through training and match funding, rooted in our global partnership with Change the Game Academy since 2007. This program enhances grassroots CBOs in over 15 countries, with Smile as the nodal partner for Asia and the only Indian organization. To tackle issues in education, healthcare, and beyond, an optimal mix of resources, capabilities, and people is essential. Our focus on Aspirational Districts and Blocks through a lifecycle approach aims to drive convergence of these elements, creating meaningful impact and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat inclusively. Heartiest congratulations to the 195 students who have completed their engineering journey through the Siemens Scholarship Program, co-implemented by Smile Foundation! We extend our gratitude to the Siemens India management team for celebrating these students' achievements at the farewell in Bengaluru. The farewell featured a soft skills workshop, fun activities, and sessions on sustainability and compliance led by Siemens employees. Siemens Scholarship Program alumni shared their career journeys, and Siemens India's leadership engaged in a panel discussion on sustainability. Since 2013, the program has granted scholarships to over 1635 students from 137 colleges across India, enabling them to pursue their engineering dreams. Expressed my thoughts on empowering Community Based Organisations(CBOs) at the virtual CSR Colloquium organised by Smile Foundation today. It was really interesting to hear fellow panelists(specially Pratyush Kumar Panda Sir) on this topic, and discuss ways to channelize efforts to entitle CBOs for an inclusive development.
