Helping Members Achieve A Better Future

Perihal kami

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is one of the world’s oldest provident funds. Established in 1951, we help the Malaysian workforce to save for their retirement in accordance to the Employees Provident Fund Act 1991. Today, we at the EPF continue to refine our vision to not only stay relevant but to create a better retirement for all our members. This strengthens our commitment in safeguarding our members’ savings and increasing our dedication in providing excellent services. In tandem with our main vision in helping members achieve a better future, we have extended our mandate to include aiding national infrastructural development while safeguarding and growing members’ retirement savings.

I am a firm believer that the main success factor in any collaborative effort is a shared purpose that resonates across the board. At the 3rd Government-Linked Entities Activation and Reform Programme (GEAR-uP) Roundtable, it was clear that the shared purpose of nation building steered the conversation to drive collaboration across the seven organisations trailblazing this pioneering stage of GEAR-uP. PETRONAS and our six Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLIC) have each committed to champion selected initiatives, and work together with one another on a range of other initiatives to support the Ekonomi MADANI agenda, pulling together their collective resources and influence as a catalyst for economic growth. I am encouraged by the discussions today, and pleased with the clarity of what each organization will drive: Championing Energy Transition by PETRONAS ; Transforming Malaysian Firms by Khazanah Nasional Berhad; Advancing an Aging Society by EPF Malaysia; Modernising Malaysian Industries by Permodalan Nasional Berhad; Nurturing Malaysian Entrepreneurs by KWAP Malaysia, Enhancing Well-being of our Armed Forces by LEMBAGA TABUNG ANGKATAN TENTERA and Unleashing Potential of Islamic Finance by Tabung Haji A role for each one, and synergy to support each other across all these themes. For Malaysia and for Malaysians. #GEARuP #EkonomiMADANI #RaisetheCeiling #RaisetheFloor

A productive working trip for a closer look at developments of the semiconductor industry, following from the GEAR-uP Semicon Workshop in May, for stronger collaboration between GoM ministries, agencies, GLICs and private sector players. The two-day trip, from 21June, highlighted clear wins as we drive this agenda to fortify Malaysia’s position in the semiconductor game: Intel Corporation Malaysia operates its largest IC design facility in ASEAN out of Penang. They run a 14k-strong workforce, of which almost half are engineers. Very impressed to learn that they have been running 100% on RE for 3 years – an early driver of Malaysia’s energy transition. Lam Manufacturing Malaysia operates the country’’s first wafer fabrication equipment manufacturing plant in Batu Kawan Industrial Park. This is Nasdaq-listed Lam Research 's largest globally, essentially putting cutting-edge research and technology for advanced microchips right in our own backyard. Germany’s Infineon Technologies is in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, where it operates the world’s largest 200mm SiC (silicon carbine) Power Fab. Infineon employs >15k people, 97% M’sians. Here we also spoke about expanding RE generation capacity. In line with the Ekonomi MADANI framework, industry progress must be powered sustainably. Very interested to see home-grown high-tech firm ViTrox Corporation Berhad in my hometown of Penang. Their R&D activities on precision smart facing solutions to drive higher quality of electrical components were particularly impressive. Also highly commendable - their initiatives to give back by providing industry-driven technical programmes to M’sian students. Apart from companies along the value chain, this visit had insights into the role of enabling agencies such as CREST. Their R&D work with leading industry members have amassed 178 collaborative projects through government grants, benefiting >10k E&E domain experts and researchers. A final stop to complete the whole ecosystem view, was the Penang Skills Development Centre. Since 1989, the PDSC has driven a tripartite model involving industry, academia and government, to develop fit-for-industry talent. PDSC has a stellar bank of partnerships with >250 industry members globally and >270,000 participants to date. Very happy with this trip – it was constructive and confidence-boosting that we are on a positive trajectory despite recent news about a slide in the nation’s competitiveness index. The proof points on the ground are tangible, and the impact will speak for itself in due course. #GEARuP #EkonomiMADANI #RaisetheCeiling Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Khazanah Nasional Berhad EPF Malaysia PETRONAS KWAP Malaysia Permodalan Nasional Berhad
