97th Avenue by Alumni Opened at NITC

17th of May 2024 was a memorable day for NITCAA with the inauguration and handing over ceremonies of 2 projects from Alumni to NIT Calicut.

97th Avenue, envisaged by the 1997 batch, and funded by the 1997 batch in a collective manner and Shri. Dharmendra Kumar Agrawal (1971 batch) was inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director NIT Calicut on 17th May by unveiling the plaque. Mr. Mani James, Mr. Deepak Somarajan, Mrs. Zarina, Mr. Vinod C, Mrs. Rathnaveni Sunil, Mr. Paritosh Lal, Mr. Praveen S, Mrs. Smitha Vijayaraghavan, and Mr. Anand V S from the class of 1997 represented the entire batch for the inauguration. Mr. Prakash Shetty (President, NITCAA), Mr. Sunil Kumar R (Secretary, NITCAA), Mr. Thankachan Thomas (Vice President, NITCAA), Dr. Mohammed Firoz C (Treasurer, NITCAA), Mr. Sadeesh P (NITCAA Calicut Chapter President), Mr. Santhosh Melekalathil (NITCAA Cochin Chapter Secretary), and Mr. Charley J Thomas represented the Governing Council of NITCAA. The function was attended by the Director, Registrar, Deans, HODS, Alumni Faculty of the Institute, staff, and students. The welcome address was given by Mr. Prakash Shetty. He mentioned that the "Eye", which is an integral part of the 97th Avenue, will act as the eye of the Alumni watching the happenings in the Institute. Prof. Prasad Krishna addressed the gathering and thanked NITCAA for realizing this project. He remarked that this project will inspire other batches to contribute to the alma mater as well. This was followed by an address by Dr. M K Ravi Varma, Dean International, Alumni and Corporate Relations. Mr. Sadeesh P who volunteered to monitor the project based on the request from NITCAA was specially mentioned in his address. The event concluded with a vote of thanks that was delivered by Shri. Mani James, representative of the 97th batch and Secretary, NITCAA Chennai Chapter.

This was followed by the handing over ceremony of a dental care facility that was initiated by Shri. Thankachan Thomas, Vice President of NITCAA and Senior Executive Vice President of the Prestige Group, in association with the Annoor Dental College and Hospital in Muvattupuzha. The ceremonial handing over of the dental care facility from NITCAA to NITC was carried out at the facility that was set for dental care in the Student Amenity Centre situated on the Campus.
