Capitainer is proud to see its blood self-sampling technology featured in leading healthcare publications in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. The articles, which were published in Dialäsen (Sweden), Dagens Medisin (Norway) and Nefrologisk Tidsskrift (Denmark), highlight a major study carried out in Norway last year, which found that Capitainer’s volumetric dried blood spot sampling device, Capitainer®B, is suitable for routine monitoring of kidney transplant recipients. The Norwegian study was carried out at Oslo University Hospital and University of Oslo and was led by Head of the Clinical Pharmacology Nils Tore Vethe. In Dagens Medisin, he highlights the positive impact that self-sampling can have on patient quality of life. The findings were published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology in an article entitled: ‘Clinical performance of volumetric finger-prick sampling for the monitoring of tacrolimus, creatinine and haemoglobin in kidney transplant recipients’. https://lnkd.in/dXZJWi3z #Nephrology #renaltransplant #transplantation

Capitainer samples were used together with Olink Proteomics technology in a recently published paper using multiplex proteomics approaches with our at-home sampling solutions. This is yet another example of how Capitainer can enable efficient research studies with individual centric sampling approaches. In this the blog article, we provide an overview on the potential of quantitative multiplex proteomics within diagnostics and disease monitoring and look at some of the methodologies in use today. Stay tuned for more news about studies carried out with Capitainer sampling and advanced proteomics analysis. Exciting news! Capitainer is proud to support Chalmers University of Technology in the groundbreaking SCAPIS2-HOME study on precision nutrition. Using our Capitainer®B50 self-sampling card, this innovative research aims to uncover how personalized dietary advice can prevent heart attacks and strokes. Professor Rikard Landberg who is leading the study states, "This is groundbreaking because, for the first time, we will have the opportunity to directly link how different individuals react to meals — also focusing on long-term health outcomes. The advantage of this study is the extensive and sophisticated investigations into heart and vascular health and lung function which will be conducted, to which our meal outcomes can be linked." Our CEO, Christopher Aulin, emphasizes, "This research demonstrates the potential of self-sampling and Capitainer's blood sampling solution. It offers the opportunity to conduct large scientific studies more efficiently and with the participants in focus. We are very pleased with the collaboration with Chalmers and that our products can contribute to new knowledge and hopefully preventive measures for major public health issues." Can Capitainer qDBS technology improve access to gastrointestinal disease diagnostics? Yes, according to Mindy Engevik, Donald Chace, Thomas Horvath, and Santosh Thapa, Ph.D. – a team of researchers from across the US that sought an easier way of analyzing and diagnosing gastrointestinal ailments, dried fecal samples provides promise for the future. We are impressed by their work and creativity to show additional value of the qDBS technology, that enables highly accurate and protected dried matrix samples. Read the linked new interview article with the scientists and get inspired by their vision and the developed work. Reach out to us at Capitainer if you also have innovative ideas for dried sample research and discuss if Capitainer cards could facilitate your research. The Pathologist https://lnkd.in/eBPktUFp

A recent publication has proven the suitability of testing drugs of abuse and alcohol consumption from one fingerstick blood collection event via Capitainer®. Regardless of where and why testing is performed, the intrusive nature of supervised urine sample collection has sparked a demand for alternative sample types that are more discrete and also amenable to multi-panel testing. The team of researchers from The Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm County Council and ABC Labs in Sweden developed a multi-panel testing workflow that combined qDBS collected via Capitainer®B with a LC-MS method capable of detecting a panel of 35 analytes in qDBS samples and 37 analytes in liquid urine samples. A total of 99 patients were recruited from a drug dependence clinic in Stockholm and included in the study. When asked for their opinion regarding sample type for drug testing, 97 of the 99 patients included in this study reported a need for an alternative sample type. In summary, this offers a high-throughput method with a short reporting time of less than 24 hours, which is a more useful guide to clinical decision-making than unconfirmed positives from immunoassay screening. In addition, an alternative to supervised urine sampling will increase privacy and dignity for those individuals being tested. Finally, the new method meets forensic standards and can be adapted to meet the evolving requirements within drug and alcohol testing. Read the linked blog article and reach out to us if you want to learn more about alcohol and drug testing solutions via Capitainer sampling. #toxicology #drugofabuse #drugtesting #toxicologytesting https://lnkd.in/d6yvPsNN
