2 kids hurt in mystery blast in MP school
BHOPAL: Two children, aged 5 and 7 years, were injured in a mysterious blast while playing in a government school compound in MP's Anuppur district.

The incident took place in Dadar Mirch village in Doniya region, close to the Chhattisgarh border. It was 10am and the school bell hadn't rung yet. Children who live in the neighborhood, however, were playing on the ground, as usual.

It's not clear what exploded, say police. Their investigation has revealed that Sanjay, 5, and Yashraj, 7, were playing with a battery - the kind used in wall clocks and common gadgets - when it came in contact with something and there was a blast.

"There are some stone crushers near the village. Prima facie, it appears the parents picked up a bit of explosive and brought it home and the kids got hold of it, or the children themselves found it somewhere. And while playing, they connected it with a battery, which then exploded," Amarkantak police station in charge Kaliram Parte told TOI. The kids are in hospital and out of danger, say police.
