Man takes exam for ‘out of town’ friend, booked
BHOPAL: A BCom final year student allegedly sent his friend to appear in the final exam as he was ‘out of town’. His friend casually appeared in the first two exams and wrote the exams. But, on Monday, he was nabbed by the college professors when the batch-mates raised suspicion on him. Acting on the college principal’s complaint, Jehangirabad police registered a case on charges of fraud under relevant sections of IPC and MP Recognised Examinations Act.

Investigation officer ASI Ajay Bajpai said that the complainant Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma, 62, a resident of Katara Hills, is posted as principal at a govt college located in Jehangirabad. He filed a written complaint against the accused Vishant Verma, a resident of Dhamanda village in Ichhawar in Sehore district, stating that the accused impersonated a regular student Hemant Verma in BCom final year final exam. He had appeared to write the exam on May 16 and May 18 too. When he was writing the exam on Monday, the college professors on suspicion questioned him and he revealed the impersonation. Subsequently, the matter was reported to police.

ASI Bajpai said that both Hemant and Vishant hail from the same village. “No financial motive for impersonation was found as of now ,” Bajpai said.
