NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate, Amarsing Tisso, emerged victorious in the Diphu constituency of Assam, securing 334,620 votes. Tisso's margin of victory was an impressive 147,603 votes over the runner-up, J I Kathar, an independent candidate who received 187,017 votes.

Joy Ram Engleng of the Indian National Congress finished third with 124,019 votes, trailing the winner by 210,601 votes. John Barnard Sangma of the Gana Suraksha Party and Jotson Bey of the Autonomous State Demand Committee secured 11,279 and 9,633 votes, respectively, falling short of the top three contenders by a significant margin.
The "None of the Above" (NOTA) option received 16,259 votes, which was 318,361 fewer than the winning candidate's tally.
Diphu, previously called Autonomous District is a Lok Sabha constituency in Assam. Diphu participated in Phase 2 of the 2024 Lok Sabha election on April 26, 2024, with a voter turnout of 75.74%. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4, 2024.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on March 16.

This seat encompasses 6 Assembly constituencies, Bokajan, Howrahghat, Diphu, Rongkhang, Amri, and Haflong. The constituency came into existence in 1957.The prominent candidates from the Diphu Lok Sabha Constituency are Amar Sing Tisso from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Joyram Engleng from the Indian National Congress (INC).

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Horen Sing Bey of the BJP won the constituency by defeating Biren Singh Engti of the INC with a substantial margin of 2,39,626 votes, accounting for 38.79% of the total votes cast.
