June Malia wins in Medinipur after a tough fight with Agnimitra Paul; Set to make her way to the Parliament


June Malia is set to begin a new innings in her political career. The actress turned politician is ready to make her way to the Parliament after serving as a Member of Legislative Assembly from the Medinipur constituency. June was an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Medinipur constituency. This is the first time, June was contesting in the Lok Sabha Elections. In her maiden inning, June emerged victorious from the Medinipur constituency.

June started her acting career in the mid-1990s and debuted with ‘Laathi’ in 1996. She went on to star in ‘Hothat Brishti’, ‘Nil Nirjane’, ‘The Bong Connection’, ‘Teen Yaari Katha’, ‘Obhishopto Nighty’, ‘Ebar Shohor’, ‘Zulfiqar’, ‘Sweater’, ‘Kishmish’. June acted in a Hindi film ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ that starred Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana as the lead pair. She was part of web series like ‘Srikanto’, ‘Abar Proloy’ and worked in popular Bengali television shows like ‘Behula’, ‘Sanjher Bati’, ‘Gaatchora’. June continued acting even after joining the All India Trinamool Congress. She won the state assembly elections from Medinipur in 2021. She was elected as Member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Medinipur constituency. This year, she contested her first Lok Sabha Elections from Medinipur Lok Sabha seat representing TMC.

Saayoni Ghosh secured a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha election from the Jadavpur constituency, defeating BJP and CPI(M) candidates by over 2.5 lakh votes.

During the campaign, TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stood by her side and mentioned June as her favourite actor. Mamata said, "June is my favourite actor. I have seen her performing very well as an MLA. Now I want to see how she does in the Parliament.” After winning her first Lok Sabha election in 2024 from Medinipur constituency by defeating Agnimitra Paul, June is now all set to walk into the Parliament and represent All India Trinamool Congress as an MP.
