Daily spiritual practices to improve and enhance your life
What are the daily spiritual practices that can enhance our life? There are several spiritual practices that can help us in life. But what is the simplest?
The simplest is to be in silence, to be still. Being in silence is the ability to cut off the outside noise to hear the Divine voice. Some people may call this meditation. Meditation is nothing but getting into contemplation, which will lead to purification and illumination that will further lead us to the realization of the truth. What is the truth? That we are not the body, mind and ego. We are the Soul. Everybody is a Soul, a Spark Of Unique Life. And the Soul is nothing but a part of God. Self-realization leads to God-realization Therefore, start with silence. Meditate, contemplate, and realize the truth.
What else can we do as a daily practice to evolve on the spiritual path? Look around you. Stop to look at the trees, the leaves, the flowers, and the fruits. Look at the sky, the clouds and the birds that fly. Look at a little dog that wags its tail. Look at all the beautiful human beings around you, those who come your way. In each of these, there is the Divine that manifests. Each one of us is a manifestation of God. Everything is a Divine manifestation. Pause and look at everything beautiful and realize the truth of Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Realize the truth that all beauty is Divinity. For when there is no Divinity, the beauty disappears.
Praying is another simple practice to follow. Prayer is a two-way communication with God. Do not just speak to God. Try to listen to the Divine voice. Prayer gives strength, courage, and peace. The ultimate prayer is to ask God for God, to become one with God. When we realize God, it changes us completely. It leads not only to a transformation but also a metamorphosis. We become free from all suffering and misery. We live with peace and bliss.

The next thing one could practice every day is to try to still the mind. Our mind tries to bombard us with 50 thoughts a minute — this can be 50000 thoughts a day. We must still our mind. We must move from the state of mind to the state of consciousness. We have to become a witness; we have to become an observer. We must take time out to contemplate the cause of our existence. Every day, we must pause and reflect to find out — who am I? We must ask, investigate, and move forward. Reading spiritual texts and listening to discourses will also help. We have to open our real eyes. When we open our real eyes, we will realize that we are not this body. It will only return to dust. Then, people will say that we passed away. We were not born on the day which everyone says is our birthday. We were born 9 months before. What were we? Reflect. We start as a single cell. The body forms much later.

This is more than enough to do on a day-to-day basis. For if we do this, we will evolve on the journey of spirituality and then the journey will take us forward, especially if we have the blessings of a Guru, an awakened master. Make it a habit to connect with your master every day and you will be spiritually awakened. Soon, you will be enlightened.
