Noida Police imposes Section 144 ahead of Bakrid, Ganga Dussehra

NOIDA: In light of the upcoming festivals of Bakrid and Jyeshtha Ganga Dussehra, the police have announced that restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC will be implemented throughout Noida and Greater Noida from Sunday to Wednesday.
The decision to impose prohibitory orders aims to ensure peace and harmony during the festive period, as stated by the authorities on Saturday. Ganga Dussehra will be observed on Sunday, while Bakrid will be celebrated on both Sunday and Monday.
The restrictions aim to maintain peace and harmony during these festive days, as stated by the police on Saturday.

The police order states that public prayers, worship, processions, and other religious events in public spaces are not allowed unless special permission is obtained."In view of the potential threat to public order posed by anti-social elements, it cannot be ruled out that such individuals may disrupt peace," said Additional DCP (law and order) Hirdesh Katheriya.
He added, "Additionally, various examinations and protest programmes are organised from time to time by the government, different commissions, councils, etc. and they are often notified shortly before their scheduled dates," emphasizing the need for appropriate measures to ensure smooth conduct.
The order highlights the risks posed by protests from various party workers and farmer organizations, which may disrupt peace. It stresses the necessity to "prevent any mischievous elements from engaging in activities that could create an adverse environment."
Due to the seriousness of the situation and the urgency involved, the order is being issued unilaterally, enforcing CrPC Section 144 from June 16 to 19.
Key restrictions include limitations on large unlawful assemblies of people, unauthorized drone use within one km radius of government offices, and the use of loudspeakers and sound amplifying devices beyond permissible limits, especially between 10 pm and 6 am.
The police order also bans activities that have not been customary at disputed sites.
Additionally, the accumulation of bricks, stones, soda bottles, inflammable substances, or explosive materials in open areas or on rooftops is forbidden.
Any violations of the order will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
"This order will remain effective across the entire Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate from June 16 to June 19. Any further orders from the Uttar Pradesh government during this period will automatically modify the relevant points of this prohibition order," stated Katheriya in the order.
