Mamta Mohandas reveals she has let go off good opportunities in her career; says her real life has always been her priority
Mamta Mohandas, who made her debut in cinemas with the 2005 Malayalam release ‘Mayookham’, has been in the industry for nearly two decades now. Through her exceptional choice of films and dedication, Mamta has undoubtedly carved out a niche for herself. Recently seen in a pivotal role in 'Maharaja,' the actress discussed how she takes periodic breaks from movies and also manages to have a steady career.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Mamtha said that she has had to let go of certain opportunities which could have been better for her reel life, however, for her real life was always the priority. “It's not like I am gone for several years and I am coming back, which is most people's story,” Mamta said.

Mamta also spoke about how most women usually take that hiatus to focus on their personal lives or maybe have a baby or two and then make a comeback, as it was how it used to be then. But in her case, she has always had intervals, right from the beginning of her career. “I’m here for two years, then gone for a year, and then I come back,” she said. Mamta Mohandas also emphasized that such intervals have helped her see the evolution of cinema and how characters for women have evolved over a period of time.

Mamta also pointed out that she continues to stay relevant, and receives offers for lead roles and also good films. “Not many women have had a steady career like mine. This is my 19th year!” she said. She further added that despite the disappointment that she has had for missing out on some films, she feels grateful for the consistent support and opportunities she has received.
