NEW DELHI: Surgical simulation devices are helping train doctors to treat cataract blindness and have been recently procured by the eye department at the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi, said an official on Saturday.
Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Misra said, "A Thalamic surgical simulator is the most advanced simulator available in the world. We have procured this simulator. We are very particular about training because it is inhuman to practice it on live human eyes." Elucidating on the significance of the device, the official said, “Since we cannot afford to make any surgical mistakes on any human eyes, we have a very strict training schedule, so apart from the theory, we take care of the surgical part.”
