Worms found in Biryani at Kerala's government hospital canteen
Hospitals are meant to offer utmost hygiene and nutritious foods to patients and attendants. But, in a recent incident, a hospital canteen in Kerala's Kottayam has been charged for serving biryani with worms in it. Scroll down to read the details.
A complaint has been filed after maggots were found in the food at the canteen of Kanjirappally General Hospital in Kottayam. As per reports, the worms were found in the biryani, after a youth undergoing treatment at the hospital reported the poor condition of the canteen and submitted a written complaint to the superintendent.
Also Read: Consumer found dead mouse in Hershey’s chocolate syrupAs per sources, the canteen operates adjacent to the post-mortem room, and it has been reported that the employees were working without any health cards, and were also not following any hygiene measures, which has now led to the canteen's closure.

In the past, a canteen in the premises of Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, came under the scanner of health officials after a customer had spotted a dead snake in her breakfast of appam and green peas curry. After investigation it was revealed that the worm-like creature was a young snake.

And before that, a millipede was found in a food packet bought from the Indian Coffee House, on the campus of General Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
