Ghatkopar hoarding crash: SIT summons partner in IPS officer wife’s company

MUMBAI: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the May 13 Ghatkopar hoarding collapse that killed 17 persons, has summoned one Arshad Khan on whose behalf Rs 46.5 lakh was transferred into 10 different accounts by Ego Media Pvt Ltd, which owned the billboard.
A police officer said no money has been transferred directly into Mahpara Garments Pvt Ltd, in which Khan and IPS officer Quaiser Khalid’s wife Summana are partners. “During scrutiny of Ego Media’s bank details, we found that Rs 46.5 lakh had been transferred into 10 accounts on the behest of Khan. When we questioned Khan, he couldn’t give satisfactory answers,” said the officer.
Probe suggests that there have been lapses on part of Khalid, the then GRP chief who is under the scanner for illegally allowing the fourth hoarding of Ego Media without any tender.
