Phone tapping case: Telangana court returns chargesheet again over ‘gaps’
HYDERABAD: The chargesheet filed by Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Hyderabad police in the alleged phone tapping case, has been returned to the probe team for the second time in less than a week.
The Nampally court, under whose jurisdiction the case falls, found that the agency has not obtained permission from the govt to prosecute the four accused officials named in the chargesheet, as they were in service at the time of registering a case against them and also filing chargesheet before the court.
Officials involved with the investigation said they have already written to the govt seeking permission to prosecute the charged officials.
The court also informed the SIT of some contradictions in the chargesheet and the documents submitted as evidence. Dates pertaining to some events related to the offence as mentioned in the chargesheet are at variance with the dates mentioned in the supporting documents.

The court also found that material evidence collected by the probing agency during the investigation has not been deposited, in totality, in the court .

Last week too, the court had returned the chargesheet to the SIT directing it to fill missing gaps and submit it afresh. Though the agency ‘filled the gaps’ and submitted the chargesheet to the court immediately, the court found more lapses.
