4 members of family dead after fire breaks out at house in Delhi's Prem Nagar
NEW DELHI: Four members of a family died after a fire broke out at a house in the Prem Nagar area of Delhi on Tuesday.
The fire department received an alert about the blaze at approximately 3.30am, two fire tenders arrived at the scene .
The victims were identified as Heera Singh Kakkar (48), his wife Neetu (40), and their sons Robin (22) and Lakshay (21). Kakkar worked as a photographer, and the family owned the house, as stated by the police.
The DFS official reported that an inverter caused the fire, which spread to a nearby sofa on the first floor of the two-storey building. As a result, the four victims inhaled smoke.

According to the police, the main gate was locked from the inside. Firefighters had to break it down to rescue the family members, and four of them were immediately taken to the Rao Tularam Memorial Hospital. However, doctors at the hospital declared them dead upon arrival.

Heera Singh Kakkar's mother, Sita Devi, who was sleeping on the ground floor of the building, remained unharmed, as stated by a police officer.


Although the fire was extinguished within a short time, there was a significant amount of smoke inside the house, the officer added.


The bodies have been transferred to a mortuary for post-mortem examination. The police are registering a case under relevant sections, and further investigation is currently underway.
