Aasu protests against scam, demands probe

Guwahati: Members of Aasu staged a protest against the marksheet scam at Gauhati University.

They staged demonstrations in front of the administrative building of Gauhati University along with with the Gauhati University Aasu unit and the University Law College Aasu group.

The president and general secretary of both the groups, as well as the student community, demanded a legal investigation into all the persons involved in the scam of increasing marks in exchange for money, and demanded exemplary punishment for all those involved in this misdeed. Aasu members locked the gate of the university's administrative building as a mark of protest. The students vowed to continue their demonstrations until their demands were met.

Parsha Patgiri and Tanmoy Kazi, state executive office bearers of the All Assam Students’ Union, who were present the protest site, demanded a thorough probe by the university authorities, besides a legal probe into the matter that is already underway.

Later, vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique, while addressing the protesting students, said action will be taken against all those involved in the act.

Aasu, in a release stated that the V-C assured them that the university authorities have already sent a message to the IT firm “involved in the act” and sought their response in this regard.
