Anti-India, anti-NEET graffiti spotted on ghat road, wiped off

Coimbatore: Mettupalayam police swung into action and wiped off graffiti such as ‘Inthiya Ozhiga’, ‘INDIA Impose NEET’, and ‘Tamilnadu Quit India’ painted on the parapet walls of the Mettupalayam–Kotagiri ghat section near the first hairpin on Monday.

Police acted swiftly after some Hindu Munnani functionaries took photos and videos of the graffiti and posted them on social media, which went viral.

Pointing out that the graffiti indicated the infiltration of Naxalites and terrorists, Hindu Munnani functionaries urged the Tamil government to arrest those behind the anti-national act under the National Security Act (NSA).

Mettupalayam police said that they are investigating and suspected the role of some left extremists behind the graffiti.

Maoists used to scrawl such graffiti in tribal settlement areas in Anaikatti.
