PSI beats woman, SP orders inquiry

Margao: South Goa SP Sunita Sawant has initiated an inquiry into the allegations of assault on a woman by PSI Vibhinav Shirodkar of Colva police station.
The woman in her complaint said the police officer assaulted her, and made her lick his shoes. “I have directed the
SDPO Margao to conduct an inquiry,” Sawant told TOI. On Tuesday, the woman, accompanied by her lawyer, visited the Margao police station and lodged her complaint.
Advocate Stanley Rodrigues told reporters that the incident occurred on June 19. The complainant’s husband and his friend were travelling by motorcycle and collided with a truck at Utorda. They compromises with the truck driver, and left, only to be called to the spot again. The complainant and her husband were allegedly beaten up with a baseball bat by two policemen there. The woman identified Shirodkar as one of her assailants.
