In a tragic incident in Sagar,
Madhya Pradesh, a parked Mahindra Scorpio rolled down a slope and struck a sanitation worker, leading to the suspension of two police officers. The incident, which was caught on video and widely circulated on social media, has raised serious questions about negligence.
The footage shows the SUV, with no driver at the wheel, suddenly moving down the slope and hitting Pradeep Valmiki, a sanitation worker who was cleaning the road. The vehicle continued to move until it collided with a wall, while horrified onlookers rushed to aid the injured worker.
Rohit Dongre, in-charge of Deori police station, was seen in the video sitting in the passenger seat. Dongre quickly exited the vehicle to assist the worker who had sustained head injuries and scratches on his hands, legs, and abdomen. He was immediately taken to Bundelkhand Medical College for treatment and is reported to have narrowly escaped more severe injuries.
Both officers, Dongre and Anand Singh, the head of women police station, have been suspended for their carelessness. Additional SP Lokesh Sinha confirmed that disciplinary action has been taken and an investigation is underway to determine the precise circumstances leading to the incident.
