NEW DELHI: The Delhi HC will hear Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea in a corruption case filed by the CBI on Friday.

The plea pertains to a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam and was registered by the CBI.

Kejriwal's counsel requested an urgent listing of the matter and a bench comprising acting chief justice Manmohan and justice Tushar Rao Gedela scheduled the hearing.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal approached the Delhi high court on Wednesday seeking bail in the corruption case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) related to the alleged excise policy scam.

Kejriwal, was arrested by the CBI on June 26 from Tihar Jail, where he remains in judicial custody for a connected money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Kejriwal has already challenged his arrest in the CBI case, with the plea currently pending before the high court.

Earlier, he was arrested by the ED on March 21 and had been granted bail by the trial court in the money laundering case on June 20. However, that order was stayed by the high court.

The controversial excise policy was scrapped in 2022 following an order by the Delhi lieutenant governor for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities and corruption related to its formulation and execution.

According to the CBI and ED, irregularities were committed while modifying the excise policy and undue favours were allegedly extended to the licence holders.
