Why Mumbai's 'mom killer' searched the Internet

The murder

After killing his 74-year-old mother, Veena Kapur, in their Juhu flat on December 6, Sachin (43) had searched the internet for a hilly location near Mumbai to dump the body.

420-page chargesheet

The 420-page chargesheet submitted by police claimed that the CCTV cameras in Veena's bedroom captured Sachin snatching her mobile while she tried to get up. Sachin, in a fit of rage, hit her with the baseball bat which killed her.

The planning

Sachin later packed the body in a carton and dumped it in a 30ft valley on Neral-Matheran Road in the evening.

Crime partner

Sachin’s house help Lalukumar Mandal (25) aided him in the crime — he removed 10 CCTV cameras and DVR device from Veena’s bedroom, cleaned the flat in Garib Das Society after the murder, and joined Sachin at Panvel in dumping the body.

Investigators said the trigger for the murder was a trivial issue.
