New book on Data Protection Act
Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently announced that drafting rules under India's data protection legislation are at an advanced stage, with industry consultations imminent. The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, passed in August last year, aims to protect Indian citizens' privacy and impose penalties on entities misusing digital data.

In addition to data protection, the ministry is focused on doubling electronics production and increasing employment.
Following the development, Advocate Puneet Bhasin - expert in cyber laws, data privacy & protection, and online entertainment laws in India - has published 'Practical Guide to Personal Data Protection Act, 2023'. The book is an analysis of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 that was launched recently by Justice Gautam Patel, former Judge of the Bombay High Court.
Justice Gautam Patel emphasized the book's significance, stating, "It is considered an essential resource for legal professionals, policymakers, business leaders, and individuals concerned with data privacy.”
