The Grand Alliance partners, the JDU and the RJD, are pressing Lalu Prasad's RJD to take action against a party member, Mla Sudhakar Singh, for his disparaging remarks against the Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar. Nitish has said he doesn't take any notice of such things yet the remark has angered the JDU rank and file. Mla Mahto, the RJD's spokesperson, threatened to pull out the tongues of Nitish's detractors if the RJD didn't rein in its men.

PATNA: Two key Grand Alliance (GA) partners on Wednesday mounted further pressure on Lalu Prasad’s RJD to take action against party MLA Sudhakar Singh for his disparaging remarks against chief minister Nitish Kumar. Although the CM said he doesn’t take any notice of such things, yet the remark has hugely annoyed the JD(U) rank and file as they vented their anger in public.

JD(U) MLC Ramishwar Mahto threatened to pull out tongues of his leader’s detractors if the RJD doesn’t rein in its men. “If we are silent, this is because we have been told to maintain restraint. But this doesn’t mean that anyone should speak anything against our leader. We won’t tolerate it and can even pull out the tongues of those who make derogatory comments against our leader,” Mahto told the media on Wednesday.
RJD MLA Sudhakar, while attacking Nitish, had compared him with ‘Shikhandi’, a character in the Mahabharata.
RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav reacted calmly over this issue, advising everyone in the ruling coalition not to cross the “Laxman rekha”.
Former CM and HAM(S) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi wondered over delay in action against Sudhakar, saying this was damaging the coalition dharma and could leave the GA in danger. “RJD must instantly act against its leader, but Tejashwi (Yadav) says he will act after obtaining consent of his father Lalu Prasad while Laluji is in Singapore…Kab puchhenge? Kab karrwai hogi?” Manjhi asked.
Alleging that Sudhakar was trying to play Nathuram Godse, Manjhi said the former might be thinking that he would be known for dismantling the GA, if that happened and might reap political dividend.
