In a candid revelation, acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee opened up about the intense emotional toll of portraying Khuddoos in the psychological drama 'Gali Guleiyan.'

According to the Indian Express, during the shoot, Manoj Bajpayee found himself grappling with the character's inner turmoil to such an extent that he began talking to himself and ultimately resorted to sleeping pills to cope with the overwhelming stress.

The actor's immersive approach to the role, which required him to channel Khuddoos' haunting solitude and psychological distress, took a toll on his mental well-being. Bajpayee recounted experiencing a moment of crisis on the 26th day of the shooting, where he felt on the verge of a nervous breakdown and had to take sleeping pills upon the doctor’s suggestion.

Concerned for his health, his wife became worried as he struggled to cope with the weight of the character's trauma.

Reflecting on the experience, Manoj Bajpayee emphasized the challenges of fully embodying a character as complex as Khuddoos, whose past traumas continue to haunt him in the present. Despite the difficulties, the actor remained committed to delivering an authentic portrayal, delving deep into Khuddoos' psyche to convey his inner turmoil to audiences.

Directed by Dipesh Jain, ‘Gali Guleiyan’ explores themes of urban isolation and childhood trauma, offering a poignant reflection on the human condition. Manoj Bajpayee's performance in the film has been hailed as one of his most compelling, showcasing his ability to convey profound emotional depth with subtlety and nuance.
