It feels like I’m the flag-bearer of thrillers: Radhika Narayan
Radhika joins Diganth Manchale, Dhanu Harsha and Nidhi Subbaiah for a dark comedy-thriller that takes place in just 24 hours
Radhika Narayan, who has been the go-to girl for thriller filmmakers, is playing a pivotal role in Diganth’s dark comedy-thriller Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana. The film, which talks about the problems of left-handers, has Dhanu Harsha playing the female lead, and also has Nidhi Subbaiah in a pivotal role.
Radhika has several thrillers to her credit, which includes RangiTaranga, U-Turn, BB5, Kaafi Thota, Shivaji Surathkal and Chase.
Of the 10 films she has been a part of, six are thrillers. Speaking about Edagaiye, which is also a thriller that takes place in 24 hours, she says, “I have a very interesting role, just like all the thrillers I have been a part of. Though the film is about southpaws, I don’t play one. My character changes the course of the film and brings several twists and turns and thriller moments. The film has several elements that makes it a perfect edge-of-the-seat-thriller. I have been part of so many films in this genre now it feels like I am the flag-bearer of thriller films (laughs).”

On working with Edagaiye team, which is a mixed bag of newbies and the experienced, she says, “It is a fresh team and they bring in a certain vibe and freshness to the script and the sets. Samarth knows what he is doing. Diganth is a very chill, easy-going and friendly person; in fact, I always wanted to work with him and I am so glad this happened. The DOP of this film is Abhimanyu Sadanand and I have already worked with him in Mundina Nildana, which was like an icing on the cake. I know what he looks for in a frame and that he would take care of everything to make each frame look beautiful, which is very comforting for an actor. It is an interesting ensemble.”

Speaking about the roles she wants to explore, Radhika says, “A biopic would be interesting as it is very challenging. You have to become another person. Whether you like their decisions or not, you have to be non-judgemental and accept and absorb that character completely. Also, I would love to explore comedy as it is not very easy to evoke laughter. You need to push yourself to do that as timing, dialogue and how you present the joke, without laughing, matters a lot. And some day, I want to explore science fiction too,” she adds.
Apart from this, Radhika has Rajendra Singh Babu’s Veera Kambala and Ramesh Aravind’s Shivaji Surathkal 2 in the pipeline.
