Actress Trupti Khamkar is all set for her next, 'Zombivli' where she will be seen sharing the screen space with Amey Wagh, Vaidehi Parshurami and Lalit Prabhakar.
In our sixth edition of #Staroftheweek, ETimes caught up with her to chat about her film 'Zombivli', anticipation with the film, and much more. Excerpts
Tell us something about your upcoming film, 'Zombivli'
There is a very popular phrase 'Never Say Never', and this happened to me.
During the Pandemic, I said to myself that I will not portray the role of 'Kaamwali Bai' anymore. But when I came to know that Aditya Sarpotdar is doing a film on Zombies and I have to play a role 'Kaamwali Bai' in it. I couldn't say no to Aditya. Because he is one director who I really want to work with. He is someone who can connect to every status of your audience.
Go on..
I felt that in this phase of Pandemic when people are really suffering and there is no work. It is so unfortunate. And in such time, an actor like me gets an opportunity to get out and work which will entertain my people, so why not at least listen to the story. So, I went to the office and heard the story of 'Zombivli'. To be honest, I have never seen or done such a film in my life. I have Hollywood's films made on Zombies but the way these people have worked and the way Zombies have worked. I think these Zombies look real"

The film boasted of an ensemble star cast. How much fun did you guys have on the set while shooting?
We were all excited to get out of our house and shoot after a long time because of lockdown. I have known Amey Wagh and Lalit because we worked with each other before. Vaidehi is like a sister and a very good friend of mine. We had mixed feelings because there was anxiety and fear of Corona around us. I think nobody fell sick during the shoot, so I think it was a blessing and a fun place to be.

You have worked in Priyanka Chopra Jonas's 'The White Tiger' and Vidya Balan's 'Tumhaari Sulu'. What kind of content you would love to explore?
I love my audience and I am very greedy for their love. I think it's clearly on the basis of character which I am doing. And I am doing justice to that character and I am adding any value in the life of my audience and my life. It really doesn't matter whether the role is big or small. In Priyanka Chopra Jonas's 'The White Tiger', I played a very tiny role but I loved that I got a chance to work with director Ramin Bahrani and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. So, I look for the vibe that people give me than the role.
Go on..
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have welcomed a baby via surrogate. It's a great step to have a baby. I am sure that they are ready to be parents. I really appreciate Priyanka Chopra and I look forward to being like her. She is going to be a very good mother.

From being a content creator to an actor – how do you look back at your journey?
Staroftheweek4 (2)

My journey has been fantastic. I feel that I am blessed forever. Like the teachers, I have met, the people I have worked with. My first ever Hindi play was with Nirmal Pandey Ji, who actually thought my commitment to theatre. When I look back now, all struggles I went through and it probably paying back now. A lot of hard work and patience will always pay off.
