Director Shankar is awaiting the release of his film 'Indian 2' starring Kamal Haasan in the lead. With just 8 days left for the movie release, the promotions for the film are in full swing, and the director, in one of his interactions with the media, said that he watched the Telugu film 'Kalki 2898 AD' and heaped praise on it, saying that the film truly represents the pride of Indian cinema.

The director said that even before the release of the film, three months ago, he had predicted that the film would definitely cross the Rs 1000 crore mark, and as he said, the film is inching towards the milestone. Shankar also followed that, apart from 'Kalki', the upcoming films 'Kanguva', 'Pushpa 2', and 'Coolie' will also achieve this huge feat and bring pride to the regional Indian cinema.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, 'Kalki 2898 AD' is set 6,000 years after the end of the Kurukshetra War. Following Mahabharat, in the Kali yug, a war breaks out as the people are required to bestow under the supreme head Yaskin, and he tries to stop the birth of Vishnu's 10th avatar, Kalki, on earth. The film revolves around the immortal Ashwathama, who meets Karnan's rebirth and tries to protect the birth of Lord Vishnu. The movie stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in lead roles, and the cast also includes Disha Patani, Shobana, Anna Ben, Pasupathy, and a few cameo roles by Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, and Vijay Devarakonda. The film was released in theaters on June 27, and it has grossed more than Rs 600 crores worldwide.
