'Kalki 2898 AD' HD version gets leaked on internet hours after film release

The highly awaited mythological science fiction - 'Kalki 2898 AD' made its premiere on the big screens on June 27. However, hours after its theatrical premiere, the entire film was leaked online on multiple piracy websites. The HD version of the film was made available to download on the websites. The makers announced a day prior to the release that strict actions will be taken against piracy, the video was still leaked.The makers are yet to react to the leak.
In a post on X, the makers also requested fans to refrain from giving out spoilers as it might quash the suspense kept in the film from others to watch. However, soon after the movie was released in theatres, many leaked snippets from the film on social media and now with the full movie leaked online, the makers are little dejected.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is set in a dystopian era and it was released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. It featured Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. The film on day 1 earned about Rs 180 crore at the box office, making it the first film to ever have the biggest opening in India and the third biggest opening in the world.
