Akshata Murty embraces sustainability: Re-wears Diwali silk sari for Temple visit with Rishi Sunak

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, recently paid a visit to London's BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, commonly known as Neasden Temple. This visit occurred during the final weekend of the general election campaign, where the couple participated in prayers and rituals.

Akshata Murty's attire for the visit was particularly noteworthy. She wore a striking royal blue silk sari, which she had previously donned during last year's Diwali celebrations.This sartorial choice highlighted her commitment to sustainable fashion practices. The sari, adorned with intricate gold embroidery on the borders and tassel details on the pallu, was paired with a matching silk blouse featuring a bateau neckline, quarter-length sleeves, and gold brocade embroidery. Akshata styled the sari in a traditional drape, with the pallu neatly pleated over her shoulder.

The couple was warmly welcomed with loud cheers upon their arrival at the Neasden Temple. Photographs captured their engagement in various temple rituals, greeting the gathered crowd, and seeking blessings. Akshata complemented her elegant sari with minimal accessories, including ornate bangles, a ring, and gold hoop earrings. She completed her look with centre-parted loose hair, a berry pink lip shade, and a natural makeup finish.
During their visit, Rishi Sunak addressed the volunteers and community leaders present at the temple. He emphasized the personal significance of his faith, stating, "I am Hindu, and like all of you, I draw inspiration and comfort from my faith. I was proud to be sworn in as a member of Parliament on the 'Bhagavad Gita'. Our faith teaches us to do our duty and not fret about the outcome as long as one does it faithfully."

The visit to Neasden Temple not only reinforced Sunak's connection to his faith and heritage but also highlighted the cultural and religious values that he and his family uphold.
