In their latest edition this year, some of the award-winning films from C2F2 will be screened as a part of a special package introduced this year. It’s a matter of great pride for us and we are grateful to the curation team at MIFF.”
Kanda Bode, a documentary film on the Hamar tribe of Ethiopia directed by Fekad Kiros and Cheryl Halpern, Steps of Freedom, an Irish film directed by Ruan Magan, and Flamenco: Passion in Danger, a bilingual film by Larry Marwar and Madeleine Y Gomez, which had won Film-of-the-Festival awards in the last 3 editions of C2F2, have been selected in the special package of MIFF 2024, informed Praveen Nagda.
Steps of Freedom reveals how Irish dance was shaped over centuries through interactions with many cultures as it evolved from a simple folk dance to become a global phenomenon loved by millions around the world.
Kanda Bode is a documentary film that focuses on the Hamar Tribe, a semi-nomadic and rural people who live along the Omo River in Southwestern Ethiopia. Preserving the traditions of their ancestors is essential to defining Hamar's life. One of the most venerated of the Hamar’s ancient traditions involves the transition of the Hamar male into an adult, which is captured in this film.
Flamenco: Passion in Danger is a fully bilingual film by Larry Marvar & Madeleine Y Gomez. In this film representative artists discuss the art and the issues that are eroding its survival. Complete with candour and current as well as archival performances, this film brings the seasoned aficionado as well as the uninitiated viewer into the world of Flamenco seldom seen.
