Thane – a favorite amongst homebuyers
Thane, once considered as just a peripheral area of Mumbai, has now become an attractive residential hub. Narrow lanes, nuclear buildings and small shops have given way to broad roads, smooth highways, multistoried apartments and sprawling malls. Clearly, this vibrant metropolis has emerged as a favorite amongst homebuyers.
Thane, one of the oldest cities of India (referred to as Chersonesus in 135 - 150 AD and Sri Thanaka in the Middle Ages) is also one to have witnessed an exponential and unprecedented growth in the last decade. This suburb, once considered as just a peripheral area of Mumbai, has now become an attractive residential hub. Narrow lanes, nuclear buildings and small shops have given way to broad roads, smooth highways, multistoried apartments and sprawling malls. Clearly, this vibrant metropolis has emerged as a favorite amongst homebuyers. And, why not, Thane seems to have just the right mix of almost everything for spinning a life of prosperity.
Mumbai's sister city
Thane is well-connected to places in and around Mumbai through numerous roads like the Eastern Expressway, JVLR, SCLR, Ghodbunder and Thane - Belapur Road, among others. Nearby cities of Mumbai like Pune and Nashik are also easily accessible from Thane. For all purposes, Thane is an extension of the financial capital of the country - Mumbai.
Travelling to the existing airport in the western line or the new proposed airport at Navi Mumbai from Thane is easy. Besides, Thane is a halt for all long distance trains too.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has approved a 32 km-long metro rail line to ease commutation from Wadala to Kasarvadavali (via Ghatkopar and Thane). This would redefine convenience and drastically reduce the journey time for daily commuters residing at Thane.
Maharashtra's own lake city
Thaneites could vouch for Mother Nature's bestowment. While Yeoor Hills and Parsik Hills envelop the city and add scenic beauty, more than 33 blissful lakes, spread across Thane, bring forth ample opportunities for water sports and recreation. Amongst them Upvan and Talao Pali are hot favorites and frequented by residents of all age group. A promenade (similar to the famous ones at Marine Drive and Worli) has been proposed by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC); this could soon turn into another tourist spot.
As recorded in the journals of the renowned traveler, Ibn Battuta, ancient settlements in Thane thrived by the Thane Creek (an offshoot of the Ulhas River); an area abundant in lush greenery, uninterrupted sunlight and fertile land. Besides natural beauty, Thane has many landscaped gardens including the famed botanical garden (built by the Thane Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the forest department). It is home to a wide range of plant and herb species.
The road that made the difference
Amongst the areas that have witnessed growth in Thane, Ghodbunder Road (also known as Maharashtra State Highway Number 42) by far tops the list. Popularly referred to as the GB Road, this 20-km stretch passes through Thane and links the two most crucial roads of Mumbai - Eastern Express Highway and Western Express Highway.

The GB Road is steeped in history and carries a legacy of good fortune. Consecutive flyovers and major infrastructural developments have transformed this route to an arterial road of gigantic proportions - accommodating residential complexes and commercial hubs for the budget-conscious as well as the high-end buyers.
Future of investments
Speaking about the future of realty projects in Thane, a representative from Vijay Group and Suraksha Realty, a leading real estate joint venture, stated, "Mumbaikars looking for a healthier and better quality of life within an affordable budget have opted for living spaces on the Ghodbunder Road, due to its proximity to nature. Quality of life and high potential for future growth have undoubtedly made Thane a coveted location for homebuyers. Our project, Orovia - The Land of Prosperity, off the Ghodbunder Road, is surrounded by 14 schools, 7 colleges, 5 hospitals, 9 malls and 54 gardens. We have received a very positive response from investors during our project's pre-launch and also in the latest MCHI-CREDAI (Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry) property expo held at Thane."

And, what's more, we could very soon be talking about India's first bullet train (a focal point of the Modi Government) that plans to connect BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) and Ahmedabad through Thane, adding more one more feather in Thane's cap.
