NEW DELHI: Vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rajeev Shukla, described Team India's victory at the 2024 T20 World Cup as a "great achievement" on Thursday.
The Men in Blue defeated South Africa by seven runs in Barbados on Saturday to win the coveted T20 World Cup for the second time.
Speaking to ANI, Shukla claimed that the Men in Blue's victory in the T20 World Cup had made everyone in the nation thrilled.
For their victory in the marquee event, the players and BCCI administrators received all the praise, according to the vice president of the BCCI.
"Everybody is happy because it's a great achievement to win the ICC T20 World Cup after defeating South Africa and many countries. I would like to give credit to all the players, team management and BCCI officials... They landed here today in a private chartered plane of Air India and now they'll be heading for Mumbai and there will be reception...," Shukla said.
The supporters of the Indian squad that won the T20 World Cup welcomed the team with open arms on Thursday, eager to see their idols and the trophy.
The Indian cricket players are scheduled to take a special flight to Mumbai after their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
The team is scheduled to arrive at Mumbai airport and proceed to Wankhede Stadium. A brief ceremony will take place at Wankhede Stadium after a one-kilometer victory parade from Nariman Point to Wankhede, organized by the BCCI.
