NEW DELHI: In a remarkable display of batting prowess, Estonia's Sahil Chauhan shattered records by smashing the quickest century in T20I history against Cyprus on Monday.

The 32-year-old reached the milestone in a mere 27 deliveries, surpassing the previous record held by Namibia's Jan-Nicol Loftie Eaton, who achieved the feat in 33 balls earlier this year.

Chauhan's unbeaten 144 off just 41 balls was a masterclass in power-hitting, as he struck an astonishing 24 boundaries, including a record-breaking 18 sixes.

His incredible strike rate of 351.21 allowed Estonia to chase down Cyprus' target of 191/7 with ease, despite losing their openers early in the innings.

Chauhan's 18 maximums also set a new Men's T20I record for most sixes in a single innings, surpassing the previous record of 16 held jointly by Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai and New Zealand's Finn Allen.

With this victory, Estonia has taken a 2-0 lead in the six-match series against Cyprus. Interestingly, in the first match of Monday's double-header, Chauhan experienced a stark contrast in fortunes, dismissed for a golden duck.

However, his team still managed to chase down a target of 196 with three balls to spare and five wickets in hand. The series is set to continue with another double-header on Tuesday in Episkopi.
