James Anderson, the legendary England bowler, showcased his exceptional skills by claiming seven wickets for Lancashire in a County Championship match against Nottinghamshire on Tuesday, just over a week before his final Test appearance.

Anderson's remarkable figures of 6-19 decimated the Nottinghamshire top order at Southport, leaving the visitors reeling at 74-6 in their first innings on the third day of the rain-affected match.

He continued his impressive performance after the break, finishing with an outstanding return of 7-35 in 16 overs. Nottinghamshire were forced to follow-on after being bowled out for 126 in response to Lancashire's first innings total of 353-9 declared.

This match serves as Anderson's sole preparation for the upcoming three-match Test series against the West Indies, which commences at Lord's on July 10.

The 41-year-old's career, spanning nearly two decades since his debut in 2003, will culminate with his 188th Test appearance.

Anderson's achievements are unparalleled, as he is the first seamer and only the third bowler in history to have taken 700 Test wickets, following in the footsteps of spinners Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan.

Despite his incredible accomplishments, Anderson has made the decision to retire from Test cricket after the Lord's match, as England looks to plan for the future, particularly with the 2025/26 Ashes series in mind.
