NEW DELHI: Former India batter Gautam Gambhir isn't the one to stay quiet if provoked. Known for his aggressive batting, Gambhir's response in a heated moment is of an equally attacking nature. Recently, in a podcast, Gambhir spoke about his verbal altercation with Virat Kohli during the IPL 2023 match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The confrontation began with a fiery exchange between Virat and LSG pacer Naveen Ul Haq.At the conclusion of the match, Gambhir, who was the then mentor of LSG, stepped onto the field and engaged in another round of verbal sparring with Kohli.

During the podcast, Gambhir spoke about the controversy.
"As a mentor, no one can come and walk over my players. I have got a very different belief. Till the time the game was on, I had no right to interfere; but once the game was over, if someone still gets into a heated argument with my players, I have all the right to defend them," Gambhir said.
However, Virat and Naveen later made peace and had their differences settled during the recently-concluded ICC ODI World Cup.

Naveen later revealed how Kohli wanted to end their feud and how they moved on from the matter.
"He told me 'let's finish it.' I said 'yeah, let's finish it'. We laughed about it, we hugged and moved on. He also said that after this you won't hear my name. You will only hear support from the crowd," Naveen said.
"We (Afghanistan) got support in every game (during the World Cup) apart from that one game against India. Other than that, we got a home kind of a feeling," said Naveen.
