NEW DELHI: Tiger Woods struggled in the second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, shooting a 6-over-par 77 on Friday. This performance, combined with his 1-over 72 from Thursday, left him at 7-over 149 and tied for 134th place out of 155 players when play was suspended due to darkness.

Woods, who last made the cut at the PGA Championship in 2020, encountered difficulties early in his round, carding triple bogeys on the 2nd and 4th holes, with a bogey on the par-3 3rd hole in between.

Despite making back-to-back birdies on the 7th and 8th holes, he gave them back with consecutive bogeys on the 11th and 12th. Woods finished his week with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.

After his round, the 15-time major champion acknowledged his need for more tournament play and practice before the upcoming U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. "I need to play more," Woods told reporters.

"Unfortunately, I just haven't played a whole lot of tournaments, and not a whole lot of tournaments on my schedule either. Hopefully everything will somehow come together in my practice sessions at home and be ready for Pinehurst."

Woods also mentioned that while he feels better physically compared to a month ago, there is still room for improvement in his game. "I need to clean up my rounds," he said. "But also -- physically, yes, I am better than I was a month ago. I still have more ways to go, lots of improvement to go physically, and hopefully my team and I can get that done pre-Pinehurst and going into it."

Despite his disappointing performance, Woods expressed gratitude for the support he received at Valhalla, the site of his 2000 PGA Championship victory. "The week, it was a great week being here, being here at Valhalla, and unfortunately my scores did not indicate how the people treated me and how great a week I had. Unfortunately, I hit too many shots," Woods said.
