Apple's SVP of services, Edy Cue, discusses Music, TV+, and more: "Starting with zero....."

In a recent interview with SuperSaf, Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of services, highlighted the company's focus on innovation and quality in its music streaming and video content services. Despite fierce competition in the streaming market, Cue emphasised Apple's commitment to providing unique experiences for its users.
Addressing the similarities in music libraries across streaming platforms, Cue stated, "At the end of the day everyone pretty much has all the same songs.But that doesn't mean that you can't innovate and that you can't do special things." He pointed to Apple Music's advancements in audio quality, particularly its surround sound feature, as a key differentiator.
"Now, with our surround sound you put a set of AirPods on, you're moving your head and the music — it's like you're sitting on the stage with the band exactly how they were hearing it when they're singing it," Cue explained to SuperSaf.
The executive also emphasised the importance of human curation in Apple Music. "We do live radio shows with real DJs, and the playlists that we're creating, some algorithmic, but always with a personal touch to it," he said.
Cue revealed that Apple developed a separate application for classical music after recognizing deficiencies in the main Apple Music app's handling of the genre. "I'm incredibly proud of the team, because we're always thinking of new ideas that make the service better for our customers and listeners," he added.
Regarding Apple TV+, Cue highlighted the service's rapid growth and focus on quality content. "In the five-year period starting with zero movies, zero TV shows, [and] no library I'm really proud of the work that they've done," he said, citing successes like "Severance," the Oscar-winning "CODA," and "Ted Lasso."
During the SuperSaf interview, Cue also shared insights into his personal device preferences, revealing his use of an iPhone 15 Pro Max, 13-inch iPad Pro, 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Beats Solo Buds.
