The Air India special chartered flight 'AIC24WC', carrying the winning Indian cricket team on their way back set a kinda record. The home chartered flight 'AIC24WC' was one of the world's most-tracked flights on the flight tracking portal Flightradar24 for as many as 15-plus hours, after it took off from Barbados on Wednesday (June 3) for New Delhi.

The flight tracking portal shared the same on X, formerly known as Twitter, "After being our most tracked flight for much of the last 15 hours, India’s World Cup champion cricket team is less than an hour from landing in Delhi." The post carried a satellite image of the flight route.

FlightRadar24 had earlier shared an update on the 'AIC24WC' flight. “Our most tracked flight right now — T20 World Cup champions India on their way home," the website had posted just hours after the flight took off from Barbados airport.

For those unaware, the Air India's special chartered flight's call sign too represents India's World Cup win, with 'AIC' representing 'Air India Chartered flight' and '24WC' representing the 'T20 World Cup 2024' triumph.

The Air India special charter flight AIC24WC, which left Barbados around 4:50am local time on Wednesday arrived in Delhi at 6am (IST) on Thursday (June 4) after a 16-hour non-stop journey. The departure of the Indian squad was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl.

They are home: Fans brave rain to welcome players
The T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team returned to the country aboard a specially-arranged charter flight with scores of fans lining up outside at the Indira Gandhi International airport to welcome the players despite a steady drizzle and heavy security deployment that kept them at a distance from their heroes.

Hundreds of supporters, holding placards congratulating their favourites and waving the national flag, braved the weather to welcome the victorious side. Fans cheered enthusiastically holding up posters of star batter Virat Kohli, skipper Rohit Sharma and outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid.
