A new message claiming to be from India Post has been circulating via SMS. The message asks users to update their address details. PIB Fact Check has clarified that any message claiming to be from India Post is fake.
PIB Fact Check in its post on X (formerly known as Twitter) has confirmed that it is a fake message and has asked users to stay aware. “Have you also received an SMS from @IndiaPostOffice stating that your package has arrived at the warehouse, further asking you to update your address details within 48 hours to avoid the package being returned #PIBFactCheck Beware! This message is #fake,” reads the post shared on X.

“India Post never sends such messages asking for updating addresses for delivering articles.
Do not click on such fraudulent links,” adds PIB Fact Check.
What is the message
India Post:
Your package has arrived at the warehouse and we attempted delivery twice but were unable to due to incomplete address information. Please update your address within 48 hours, otherwise the package will be returned. In order to update the address click on the link indisposegvs.top/IN. After the update is complete, the package will be re-delivered within 24 hours.

SMS fraud:
- Don't trust messages from unknown numbers, especially those creating a sense of urgency.
- If a message claims to be from a legitimate company, contact them directly through a verified phone number or website (not the one provided in the text).
- Don't click on links in suspicious texts. If you need to access a website, type it in manually.
- Never share personal or financial information like passwords or account numbers via text message.
- If you receive a suspicious text, report it immediately
