According to new criminal laws that will come into force from July 1, fraudulent marriage carries a 7-yr jail term but forcing someone to work for you is punishable with only a year in jail. While Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) is more transparent and efficient than British-era laws, it misses the opportunity to meaningfully overhaul the justice delivery system
